Sherol Mershon

Sherol Mershon, Silver Fin's owner and host, was raised in Aleknagik. Her earliest memories are of playing in the lake, taking leisurely boat rides, and meandering through the forest. Sherol has been fishing the bay since 1961 when she was six years old. Sherol's grandfather, Ray Smith, settled the town of Aleknagik in 1930 on the invitation of Frank Waskey - the first representative from the Territory of Alaska to Congress. Sherol and her husband Phil were featured in the short documentary below highlighting their family's connection to the land and sea. Sherol's goal is for travelers to come as guests and leave as friends.
